Dominican republic - Dominican peso (DOP)
Crystal blue waters, beaches with white sand and the hospitality of the people, have made many travellers fall in love with the country. When Christopher Columbus had taken his first steps on the island Hispaniola, he wrote in his journal he´d arrived in paradise. Since those days the country has received influences from Africa, France, Spain and Haiti. This has led to a variety of culture experiences for the traveller. The official currency of the Dominican republic is the Dominican peso. The general price level is lower than in Finland, but in the most popular tourist areas prices can be as high as in Europe.
